HELP WHITE LOTUS

FIND A NEW HOME

Dear Community,

At White Lotus Dragon & Lion Dance, our mission is to keep the tradition of acrobatic lion dancing alive and thriving in Portland. This powerful art form is rooted in culture, discipline, and community—and we’re proud to be the city’s only team specializing in this high-level style of performance.

Over the years, we've shared lion dance across the city—at schools, cultural festivals, weddings, and community events. As our team grows, so does our impact—and so do our needs. Right now, our biggest challenge is space.

We’ve been incredibly grateful for the training space that’s supported our team thus far. But we’re quickly outgrowing it. With more members, more routines, and a growing interest from youth and community groups, we need a space that matches our potential.

That’s why we’re launching this GoFundMe campaign—to raise funds for a new long-term practice facility that can safely support our training, our growth, and our vision for community connection.

Why We’re Fundraising

What we’re looking for

Ample Space (4,500–5,000+ sq ft)

Lion and dragon dance demand space. We train in groups and need room to run full routines without restriction.

High Ceilings (22 ft+)

Our routines involve flips, lifts, jumps, and acrobatics. We need height to move safely—no low-hanging pipes or beams.

Good Lighting & Climate Control

Comfort, visibility, and safety are top priorities for year-round training.

Restrooms

We envision this facility as a community hub—so proper amenities are essential for events, camps, and families.

Safe Flooring

Our team performs stunts and acrobatic movements that require cushioned, slip-resistant surfaces to reduce injury.

Accessible Location

We're focused on SE Portland, near schools like Franklin, David Douglas, Centennial, and Clackamas, to stay connected to the communities we serve.

Our Greater Vision

This new space isn’t just about performance—it’s about creating opportunity and access.

We want to offer:

  • Free classes and youth programs

  • Cultural workshops and community events

  • Open practice space for students and families

  • A safe, welcoming place where tradition thrives

This space will serve as more than a training ground—it will be a cultural home base for Portland’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and beyond.

How You Can Help

Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to this dream. Your support helps us:

  • Secure a long-term lease

  • Build out the space for safety and functionality

  • Cover essential costs like insurance, equipment, and utilities

Whether it’s $5 or $500, you’re helping preserve a tradition, empower youth, and invest in a brighter, more connected future.
